Community Mobilization Implemented for BAIS V Field Practice

BAIS V field practice entails testing of all survey procedures, including community mobilization, data collection and data management, HIV counseling and testing, and linkages to care that will be conducted in selected EAs and households that are not a part of the sampling frame.

In February 2020, the BAIS V community mobilization team coordinated a community mobilization campaign in preparation for the BAIS V field practice.

Twenty community mobilizers were recruited and trained to conduct community mobilization at the EA level. Two community mobilisers were assigned for each EA. There were 10 EAs drawn from Kgatleng, Kweneng, and Ngwaketse.

At the beginning of the mobilization, community mobilizers were introduced to Kgosi district AIDS coordinators, heads of district health management teams, nurses in charge of health facilities, village development committees, and village councilors and social workers in each EA by the community mobilization coordinators before they kick started their targeted community mobilization exercise.

The community mobilization campaign for field practice was implemented for two weeks before the arrival of the field team.
