The virtual national launch of the Fifth Botswana AIDS Impact Survey (BAIS V) 2021
After a short pause period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to announce the official virtual national launch of BAIS V, which will take place on the 26th February 2021.
BAIS V is a nationally representative household survey about HIV to be conducted between 26th February and 26th June 2021 in selected areas countrywide. Survey results will help guide HIV policy and programming.
The Government of Botswana (GOB) will carry out this survey with technical support from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency (NAHPA), Statistics Botswana, University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and funding from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Survey teams will visit selected households to collect health information and offer HIV counseling and testing to participants aged six weeks to 64 years old. Those in need of further care will be referred to nearby health care facilities.
BAIS V teams have valid identification from the GOB and are trained to protect participants’ confidentiality and health information.
The GOB encourages the general public to actively support the BAIS V and participate in the survey if their household is among the selected ones.
